A Life that we should always treasure....

Today, I seriously don't know what to write the introductory for today post. It was a sombre, dark day in Taman Debunga in Malacca, as well as here, in Canberra. The news just struck to my face, just like that, a smack, real hard smack on my face. My eyes starts to drop tear when I heard that my grandfather just passed away. I tried to breathed hard and cool myself when I heard the news because I was celebrating my friend's birthday in Canberra Center. I was hard, so hard to control my emotions, my feelings, everything about myself. Currently, I feel like I need to go back, go back to Malaysia, go back to my hometown Malacca to visit my grandfather for the last time. But, my mom already advise me to stay calm and keep on concentrating on my study, because that was my grandfather last wish before I fly to Australia.

My grandfather, Chiam Ah Kiau, was a famous photographer in Malacca. Most of the people in Serkam and Merlimau's area in Malacca knows him very well. The school frequently ask him to snap the class photo for the students in most of the school in Malacca. Whenever I want to remember him, he'll be wearing a white singlet with short blue pant in my mind. He often sleep on the long chair in the afternoon after reading the newspaper. His interest was more on stock market, where he'll take the financial newspaper and start plotting the graph of the selected companies. When he want to buy something, he'll use his motorcycle to travel around Merlimau and Malacca.

Life was so full of unexpected things to happen. God can just take away one's life and never give it back. Sometimes, he'll just hanging your life on the halfway and send you to coma state. You'll not going to heaven nor hell, just hanging around on earth searching for something that you've lost. However, we all have to face it. My relationship with my grandfather was quite close, because he taught me a lot of things. He teach me what is inside the share market and recently he teaches me how to take the photo. When I glance through the Chinese New Year, I can't bear the feeling anymore. This is for you, Grandfather.....I will always remember you.

Weekend Bomb!!!!

WOW, I was bombed for the weekend. I have the most adventure and fun party for the weekend before start my first semester in Australian National University. Since tomorrow I have to wake up early at8am in the morning, then I have to sleep early tonight. So, tonight I'll spend around 10 minutes to fully summaries what happens for my weekend XD.

Saturday was a windy day, which is quite a nice day to have a hiking expedition in Mount Ainslie. The Mount Ainslie was just located behind Canberra center, around 2-3km away from Canberra Center. Since most of us feel lazy to walk, then we took the bus at 11am near the main bus stop at Canberra. The mountain was totally different from Malaysian forest, which in Malaysia, the forest was so pact of trees and all the leaves in the forest was green. However, in Mount Ainslie, there are quite a few colour of the bark which is in black in colour, yellow in colour and brown in colour. And the trees had different type of green such as pale green, dark green and others. The wind really help us a lot, because compare to Malaysia, when you hiking, you will sweat a lot. But in Mount Ainslie, we don't sweat when we hiking and it makes the whole journey seems easier. It's only took us one hour to climb up to the top and our journey paid off in the end because the scenery on the top of Mount Ainslie was terrific. Luckily I took the whole video for memories.

When we come down, we went for the Australian War Memorial. It was like a museum with a lot of war artifacts and replicas. I manage to learn a bit of Australian history there as there are a lot of small clips being premier to the guest. The museum was so big and we have no chance to fully explore the whole museum. Since we only have a limited time to spend on going around the museum, so we just have a brief visit to every section of the museum. We even pay tribute to the lost soldier.

On Sunday, our senior organise a all Malaysian Potluck Party where all Malaysian can mingle around. I met with few seniors who studies Commerce and others too. I was freaking fun as we was laughing for some lame jokes in the party. My mouth keep on munching the food that all the people brought. Ow Yaa~~~, I forgot to tell that me, Yuga, Pam, Thali, Renu, Jarry, RR and Yen Wei was preparing the 'Fruit Punch' for the party. It went well actually, because the people keep on drinking it.

Thats all for today. I have to sleep early for tomorrow class. See you all soon in the next post.

Run Hunter Run ~~~~

Hahahaha, I feel quite refreshing after workout for 1hour in ANU gym. Tiring, because of my flu and sickness, I can't really have a full potential to do a full training in the gym. The gym in ANU is fully equipped. They have all sort of stuff there, I dont know whats the name of the machine, but I definitely know that if want to build up any muscle, then just go there and hit the gym real hard.

There did have trainer to teach you how to build up your cardio and muscle. But they charge us for like AUD30 per session, which is not quite worth it. Thats all for today. I'm building my muscle today. How about you?? You planning to build up your muscle and shape your body?? Go and hit the gym today ^^

AhhhhhhhChoooooo~~~~

Ya....I'm having flu today. Sneezing for the whole day, and today Canberra rains. My Gosh! I have to rush to ANU Pharmacy to get flu medicine as soon as possible. I'm sure everybody hates flu, its like u keep on sneezing whenever you go.

Guees what, the medicine in Australia is freaking expensive. Maybe we should start appreciate our government in Malaysia for subsidizing the drugs for us, so that everyone can get the drugs with cheap price. So folks, stop complaining to Malaysian government.

My Gosh, I can't continue typing already. I should head to my bed and have a rest for today. I don't think so I can attend for most of the activity for today. (Market day is boring because I thought they will sell they old stuff and secondhand stuff or something). Just want to let you all know that I was suppose to go for few activity like Business and Economics Greeting and Thriving in the Information System session at Manning Clark Center. Maybe I'll skip the apartment party too. We'll see....

Hunter

Difference between life in Australia and Malaysia ^^

YoHoHo~~~ Its me again, blogging with some interesting stuff here. Today I'm going to talk about something that I have discovered along these few days when I'm in Canberra.

I realize that fast food in Australia don't provide chili sauce. It simply means they will charge you when you want chili sauce. For example, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) here charge us 30cents for each small packets of chili sauce. Even McDonald here also does not provide chili sauce like in Malaysia. The more pathetic is that even the shopping market also does not sell chili sauce (so far no market that I have visited actually sell chili sauce). So, reminder for all tourist and students who coming to Australia soon, bring your own chili sauce if you prefer to eat your fried chicken with it.

Next case is the toilet door has no lock. Means there is no lock install on the door. So far I've asked my friends from different accommodation and they all giving me the same answer, no lock on the toilet door, which is quite scary when some stranger can just enter the toilet anytime when you do 'business'. However, luckily they install something like curtain which can close when you bath. Still, it still dangerous when your toilet door is unlocked.

When I walk on the road in the city, I realize that for the pedestrian street (like zebra crossing), cars actually stopped when you want to cross the road, even without the traffic light indicating that when you are allowed to cross the road. But these zebra crossing only available near the mall such as Canberra center. In other place, there are crossing lights installed at the traffic light, with sounds. This sounds actually is for disable people like blind people. So, they will cross the road when they heard the sounds.

There are also a lot of bicycle parking lot around the city, especially the mall, mainly because there are many people cycle to supermarket, which is more convenient compared to taking a bus or drive to mall. And one more thing, wearing a helmet when cycling is compulsory here, as stated by the law (I guess).

Last but not least, I can't see a single beggar here. My friend said it is against the law to beg for food and money in Australia because it is against the law. So, it also means that I'm going to die of hunger if I don't have money with me and my bank account. Please transfer the money to my account for donation, Thank you XD....

Here is some pictures that I took last few days for the event around ANU and Canberra Center. Link
That's all for today. Bye.

AUSTRALIA!!!!!

Wow, today was the 2nd day I stay in Aussie. Sorry I havn't posted ASAP on the blog because I was very tired and have a lot of stuff to do during my stay in Unilodge. So since I have energy to blog, then I'll just write out my overall experience from the departure till now.

It started on Monday evening, where my father a bit blur on sending me to airport. He keep on complain don't know the road to KLIA. I pray to God so hard that we dont get lost along the road to KLIA. By the way, it went smoothly and we manage to reach KLIA a bit earlier at 4.45pm. I thought I was the earliest one who arrive the airport, but then I saw Xue Yin, Shalini, Pam and Jarry reaching KLIA before me.

After waited for 1/2hour to 1 hour, the representative from JPA finally arrived (yeah, arrived). Then I lazy to talk the whole precess la. From Beg Check-in > JPA last briefing in Malaysia > getting back our passport & visa > Hang luggage checked > enter the boarding room > board the airplane. Believe me, the rest was the best part.

The best part is coming for all the JPA student who boarding the MAS night plane. they will provide all the passengers the night supper and breakfast. The foods was awesome, a fillet fish with cheese and baked potatoes for my supper and muffins with any drinks (hot or cold, juice or plain water). I eat so much for the whole journey. However, my friends and I rarely have the chance to sleep (don't ask me why because even myself also don't know why I can't sleep, maybe the seat is uncomfortable, or maybe the excitement makes us unable to sleep).

After enduring the 7 hour and 45 min, we finally reach Sydney and can step on Australian earth. The temperature was around 20-23'C, but it was so dry till the lips can crack easily. I have to rush to buy the lip bum from the sore the next morning. After reaching Sydney, we need to take domestic flight to Canberra at 1.35pm Australia time. It was so hectic day for us because of lack of sleep. The whole body was so tired and unable to carry our heavy luggage. To add the problem, most of the JPA students was being fine for heavy luggage. Qantas only allow 23kg for the luggage, so I was fined for AUD40. However, luckily representative of JPA provide us with foods and water.

After having our lunch with all the friends, we have a small briefing with Mr Imran before boarding our next transit plane. By the time Mr Imran finish his speech, we have to rush to the boarding plane area because they are going to fly soon. Luckily we were able to catch the flight. The plane use by Qantas was so small, I think can only fit 20 people in the plane. And the horrible part is it was so scary because the whole 55minutes journey was bumpy (worst than airasia).

We finally reach Canberra around 2.30pm. The MASCA representative wited for us at the airport and a bus was booked to send us to our respective hostel. I stayed at Unilodge Warrumbul, which is just opposite Business and Economy building (very near to my classroom). It is also near to the town center, the Canberra Center and Union Court. The people here are very friendly and helpful too. They will us to direct the way to our destination when we were lost. On the first day, we already meet a few people who live in-campus like Aiko and Olivia.

That was a brief story about the journey until I reach Canberra. In the evening, me, Yuga, Pam, Yen Wei and Tali went to Canberra Center for a walk. All the shops closed at 5pm, which is very early as compare to Malaysia. Shopping center and small shops are all closed. There were only a few restaurants and shops left open such as Subway. Even KFC here in Canberra Center was closed. So basically, I can say that it was hard to find food for dinner. The weather was so cold that night and I was shivering cold because I wore a short pants =.=lll

For the next day, I woke up so early because the sun shines towards me at 6am. Yeah, 6am. I have to prepare myself before going to Melvin Hall for enrollment. I also have to open a new account in the bank and get a new phone. Guess what phone I got??? iPhone!!! XD We also have to go to Canberra Center to grab a few important stuff such as pillow, kettle, frying pans and detergent.

So, basically that's what happen these few days. I will update the blog with some interesting story next time. Ok then. Bye ^^
